Let's start on the Mansions Road in Bicfalău - a village with a long history, inviting you on an authentic journey.
The picturesque Transylvanian rural settlement is the only one in Romania that has almost 40 mansions built during the 17th-19th centuries. Of these, 20 still have their original architecture - a fascinating blend of traditional beauty and rustic charm.
The architecture in Bicfalău was shaped over the centuries, closely related to the building materials in the area. The mansions and the houses are generally made of stone or brick, the tiles are scale-type, wooden beams are often carved with the date of construction and the entrance gates have wrought iron elements.
You will notice how the cultural landscape preserves the mediaeval atmosphere of Europe: the central church is surrounded by houses, vegetable gardens, orchards and pastures and the forest stretches further. The homogeneous architecture of the village and the well-built houses speak of a united community with proudly preserved traditions.
Today, life here is a combination of secular traditions and modernity. Today, the economy of the commune is based on milk and meat processing, but also on traditional activities such as wood processing and pottery.
Bicfalău awaits to share its stories and give you an authentic experience in the heart of Romania. Visit this fascinating place and you will discover a part of Transylvania that proudly preserves its unique traditions and architecture.
