Pârvești Monastery remains a living, steadfast presence, despite all the trials it has gone through over time. This reminds us of a world that is rapidly setting, where beauty meant naturalness, and joy, candor, and harmony between people were highly prized.
The main church of the monastery, dedicated to "Saint Hierarch Nicholas" and built between 1816-1820, is one of the most remarkable wooden buildings in the entire Eparchy of Husi.
It is said that a Russian officer who passed through these places would be buried in the cemetery within the monastic settlement. As a sign, inside the church are preserved the gilded wooden iconostas and a polychander with an ornament from which hangs a tsarist dragon, reminiscent of him.
Being a page of history and a unique place due to the mastery of artistic creation, it is worth coming to the lands of the Husi and visiting it!
Architectural features
The place of worship is built entirely of wood, being unique both by the mastery of the artistic creation, and especially by the execution of the vaulting system, of the arching of the beams, as well as by the harmony of the volumes. The construction was made in the shape of a cross, with three octagonal towers rising above it.
Inside, the gilded lime wood paneling is decorated with floral and geometric motifs, alongside religious symbols typical of the Baroque style.
On an upper terrace, about 50 meters away from the church, rises the bell tower. Built of oak beams, it has a square shape and rises on two levels. In the upper room are housed three old bells made of solid bronze.
Priceless treasures
The building keeps in its premises icons and period furniture made of linden wood, carved and painted in oil. It is about the iconostas, the bishop's chair, the pulpit and the polychandre.
There are also silver boxes with particles from the relics of "Saint Mina" and a vestment of Saint John Chrysostom.
In addition, in the southern part of the church there is the tombstone of George Gr. Oprisanu, who was a member of the Ad-hoc Divan of Moldavia in 1859.
