Located in the south of Harghita county, in the Homoroade Plateau, Mărtiniș commune is a destination that harmoniously combines elements of history, architecture and nature. The commune consists of 12 villages, including Mărtiniș - the residence of the commune, being located in the valley of Homorodul Mare and on the surrounding hills.
Historically, Mărtiniș is distinguished by the fact that it has been mentioned since the 14th century. The Biró family had a significant role in local history and is recognized for its members, who held important positions and contributed to the development of the commune. The Ugron family is also remarkable, Ugron Pál being known for the reconstruction of the Biró - Ugron manor in the 1770s. The structure of the commune reflects the social and architectural changes that have taken place over time. Households are mostly laid out in rectangular formations, thus showing the bent towards order and planning of the community.
From a natural point of view, the commune is enriched by the continental-moderate climate that favors diverse vegetation and a rich fauna, with beech and fir forests and a variety of bird and reptile species. In addition, the hydrographic network is dominated by the Homorodul Mare River and its tributary streams.

A major point of interest in the area is the protected natural area – the Sânpaul Bird Stop, a wetland that provides habitat for various species of hydrophilic plants and shelter for migratory waterfowl. The area is included in the European ecological network - Natura 2000 and represents an example of local biodiversity management and conservation.
Numerous touristic churches are waiting for tourists to cross their threshold, among which we mention: the Reformed Church (built in 1804), the Mărtiniş Unitarian Church (built at the end of the 14th century), the Ugron Manor, the Unitarian Church in the village of Orăseni, the Unitarian Church in the village of Petreni.
Other sights to visit in the area: the Bădeni Citadel, the Roman Castrum in Sânpaul, the Village Museum in Băculeț (Mărtiniș village), as well as the "Roman Viktor" Sculpture Park.
