Near Lake Vida, so famous for the spectacle of its waters that change colour every season, you will find a wooden small church almost 300 years old.
Built in 1725 from oak timber, on a high and steep hill in the middle of the Luncasprie village, the monument church quietly watches over the old cemetery with stone crosses.
The initial painting was executed by an anonymous painter in 1769, year when the royal doors were also made, in Duma Mihai's house.
Changes made later, unfortunately, overshadowed the value of the monument. In time, many of its artistic or documentary-historical value goods also disappeared.
Arrived here, let yourself be inspired by the simplicity of the place and discover its story written in wood!
Uniqueness of paintings
Immediately after the completion of the construction, the church had no painting, but only icons on wood, one of them - the Descent of the Holy Spirit, dated 1743.
Only in 1769 was the painting of the church made by an anonymous painter, a fact attested by an original inscription written in Cyrillic letters on the deacon door, on which Saint Basil is represented. On the other door of the altar, there is a representation of St. John.
From the initial painting of the church, only the royal doors and the deacon doors are preserved, as well as a few icons on wood and glass. They were moved by the parish priest into the new village church for better preservation.
At the moment, the church is in an advanced state of decay.
