Welcome to the Baranyi-Jakó Manor, a corner of history in the heart of Mișca village. The impressive monument was built between 1771-1774 by the Baranyi family and served as a noble residence and administrative center of the Mișca domain.
Curious eyes can see more than walls here, they can glimpse the grand past of a region rich in history under the influence of the Habsburg administration. The manor is an outstanding example of late provincial baroque architecture.

Here, among the arches that preserve the echo of the ages, the Hungarian historian Jakó Zsigmond, a prominent representative of modern Hungarian historiography, grew up and spent his youth. He dedicated his life to the study of medieval cultural history, being a promoter of cultural and historical heritage.
Discover the manor as a testament to the times gone by and the people who left their mark on it.

Architectural features

The Baranyi-Jakó manor is considered one of the most important expressions of the 18th century Bihorean heritage, built in the late provincial baroque style.

It is two and a half centuries old, and the quality of its architecture has been preserved relatively well. The building is built in the shape of the letter "L". The most special architectural element of the building extends over the entire facade from the courtyard - an open porch, delimitated by arches, through which you can enter the different rooms of the manor. In the past, the manor had a courtyard, a garden, orchards, but also agricultural buildings.

Outstanding personalities
In this manor, owned in the past by his grandfather, Jakó Zsigmond grew up and spent his youth. This was a well-known Hungarian historian of the 20th century, born in Transylvania. Considered an extraordinary scientist, Jakó Zsigmond dedicated his life to the study of the history of medieval culture as well as the auxiliary historical sciences.
As one of the most respected representatives of Hungarian historiography in Hungary and Romania, his activity was obviously influenced by the cultural heritage of his family, the Jakó family, having a past of 700 years in Bihor County.
