LaPas24: Made in Bison Country

Date and time

05 October - 05 October 2024, 11:00 - 13:00

About

In the Banatul Montan you can still find rural settlements where the local people have not been in a hurry to forget their old recipes, speech, legends and celebrations.

So we started, La Pas, through the valley that connects the Țarcu Mountains to the Cernei Mountains and we stopped in Hora-Mare, at number 36. We didn't stop here by chance, I heard that in the Cornereva commune there is a collection of local recipes , with names I have never met before.

At Casa din Cucă, Fana lu' Pascu welcomed us with open arms and a hot oven, to prepare us a snack that she learned from grandma Maria. After kneading and letting the dough rest, I flipped through the manuscript of culinary customs handed down from the elders. Have you heard of Morândău, Tarhană or Cornută?

We're not telling you just to whet your appetite, but we invited Fana to the LA PAS Festival. On Saturday, October 5, we unravel the mystery of some recipes and cooking techniques, passed down by word of mouth.

You will have the opportunity to taste Plașinţ pe Pătăru, a recipe for pies that is usually prepared on Lazarus Saturday, before the cheese is left dry, during Easter Lent. If you want to follow all the steps of the preparation, we are waiting for you starting at 11.00. The tasting lasts until 13.00, when we brown the last pie.

The workshop is supported by Rewilding Romania, within the initiative "Produced in the Country of the Bison".

In the limited number of copies available, those who attend the workshop and the tasting will receive a copy of the recipe manuscript from Cornereva.
We invite you to join our efforts and make your contribution for a responsible event. In this sense, we encourage you to travel to the event by means of public transport, on foot or by bicycle. Don't forget the water container too! Together we can reduce the impact caused by bottled water and create a suitable environment for learning and experiencing sustainability values for young and old.
