Between 02-04 August 2024, the Skepsis Group presents the Medieval Days of Belgrade - medieval art festival, the 9th edition!
For 3 days, in Alba Iulia, in the area of the 4th gate of the Citadel and Museum Street, the past of the citadel known in the medieval period as Bălgrad will be revived through art.
The groups participating in this year's edition are: NOSA (Bistrita); SIRIUS (Bistrita); TRUVERII (C.C.S. Bucharest), STUDIO 24 (C.C.S. Bucharest), TERRA ULTRASILVANA (Braşov); MEDIEVAL ART (Bucharest); THE PLAY TEACHER (Alba Iulia); SKEPSIS (Alba Iulia). Joining the event as collaborators: Andreea Adam (plastic artist), who will hold a mosaic workshop with seeds and grains, and Harald Susanyi (authorized tourist guide), who will help us rediscover the medieval past of the fortress.
The opening of the festival will be marked on the evening of Friday, August 2, at 8 p.m., in front of the National Museum of the Alba Iulia Union, where the Skepsis theater troupe will present the show "Cine-i Stăpânul" - a show in the genre of Commedia dell Arte that proposes a meeting with Colombina, Arlecchino and Pantalone, three of the most famous characters of this type of theater specific to the Renaissance period.
On Saturday and Sunday, every morning and evening, the medieval art-loving public will be able to participate in open, interactive workshops of dances, crafts or games and stories for children or guided tours of the fortress. Participants will also offer a series of medieval-themed performances designed to bring back the color and flavor of bygone times: weaponry presentations and demonstrations, medieval music and dance performances, theater and fire juggling performances.
The event is a thematic one, dedicated to the promotion of medieval and renaissance art, all the performances presented respecting the specifics and characteristics that give authenticity to the genres addressed. We are waiting for you to join us in reviving Belgrade - our medieval fortress - through art!
Public access is free to all events in the program, within the limits of the venues. In case of bad weather, the performances will be postponed or rescheduled. All possible changes as well as updated information will be announced on the Facebook group page https://www.facebook.com/skepsis2002.
The Medieval Days of Bălgrad - medieval art festival - is a cultural project dedicated to the promotion of the Citadel through art, organized annually by the Skepsis Group in partnership with: Alba Iulia City Hall; Alba Iulia Students' House of Culture; The National Museum of the Alba Iulia Union; "Inter-Art" Aiud Foundation; "Lucian Blaga" Alba County Library.
