"Cultures of the world" - the festival of cultural diplomacy
For the thirteenth year, the Brâncovenesc Palace from Mogoșoaia, opens its doors for a new edition of the Mogoșoaia ClasicFest, which will be held again this time under the banner "World Cultures".
Countries from South America, Asia, Europe and Africa have announced their participation, and on the occasion of this festival you will be able to discover them through music, plastic art, dance, images, documentary films and traditions
On May 25 - 26, 2024 you will be able to enjoy: fine art exhibitions, photography, traditional objects, film screenings, concerts, dance performances, handmade workshops for children.
For two days, in the story spaces of the Brâncovenesc Palace in Mogoșoaia, Uruguay, Turkmenistan, Vietnam, Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Israel and Romania met.
The organizers are: Palatele Brâncoveneşti Cultural Center from Portile Bucharest and the Pro Valores Association.
On Saturday, May 25, the series of attractions will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the award ceremony and the opening of the exhibition of the laureates of the 5th edition of the "Martha Bibescu" International Plastic Art Competition, organized in partnership with the Union of Plastic Artists from Romania.
At 14:00 the series of events proposed by EGYPT, SYRIA and IRAK will begin: presentation of documentary films, the Arab music concert performed by Feras Sarmini (Politiki Lyra) and Alexandru Nistoreanu (Oud) and the opening of the exhibition where you will be able to admire works of painting and small sculpture by artists Farouk and Ammar Alnahhas from Syria, painter Geafar Dia from Iark, as well as traditional objects from Egypt.
At 16:00, the TURKMENISTAN Embassy proposes a complex of events that will not be missed: screenings of documentary films, a dutar recital (a traditional instrument from this country), the traditional dance show "Kusht Depdi" and an exhibition in which you will find books dedicated to the personality of Magtymguly Fragi – 300 years since the birth of the creator of Turkic languages, as well as traditional costumes and photography.
On Sunday, May 26, from 12:00, the demonstrations proposed by VIETNAM begin. After the screening of documentary films, there will be a performance of Vietnamese traditional costumes, as well as a recital by: Trinh Dan Nhi (violin), Giang Nguyen Zha (cello) and Ana Gheba (piano). Also, in one of the rooms on the ground floor of the Mogoșoaia Palace, it will be possible to admire the paintings of painter Van Duong Thanh.
At 14:00, the URUGUAY Embassy offers you a trip full of color and rhythm in South America. You will be able to attend the lecture of the ethnomusicologist and researcher Carlos Blanco Fadol, who for 40 years has used music as a purely anthropological element of communication. Thus he achieved a very close relationship between the natives through the instruments he played. This allowed him to investigate and collect a great diversity of ethnic musical instruments and access untold secrets of oral tradition. He will also give a recital together with percussionist Irina Rădulescu. At the end you will be able to watch documentary films about El Candombe and the Photography Exhibition of Uruguayan artists Gaston Britos, Jorge Tulio Idiarte Borada Diaz and Julio Testoni.
At 16:00, ROMANIA will be represented by the actress Lamia Beligan and the guitarist Tudor Niculescu Mizil, in an exceptional syncretic show, which will be followed by the opening of the exhibition of painting, graphics, lithography and sculpture by the artist Samy Briss, born creator in Iași, went to Israel and experienced international success in France, once he settled in Paris. During both days of the festival, there will be 8 workshops: handmade jewelry, caricature, mandalas, traditional Turkmen dance, 3D painting and artistic collage. Places in the workshops for children and teenagers are limited. At each of these, a maximum of 10 participants will be accepted.
