Date and time
21 March - 21 March 2025, 14:00 - 17:00
Location
The Bănățean Timisoara Village MuseumAbout
The exhibition "The Smell of Warm Bread - Bread in Dacia" offers a broad foray into the everyday world of the Dacians, shedding light on the complexity of the technological and cultural processes related to bread production, as revealed by archaeological discoveries and historical sources.
This scientific endeavor, carried out through a close collaboration between researchers, museologists and other specialists from the Museum of Dacian and Roman Civilization in Deva, the County Museum of History and Art in Zalău and the West University of Timișoara, aims not only to valorize the archaeological heritage, but also to contribute to a better understanding of the complexity of human society.
The exhibition emphasizes the symbolic and ritual dimension of bread, reflected in ceremonial practices and in its mythical meanings, deeply rooted to this day. The careful analysis of the archaeological contexts and the artifacts presented highlights the interdependence between technological evolution and cultural expressions, thus offering an interdisciplinary perspective on the history of food in the Dacian, Proto-Romanian and later Romanian space.
We are therefore waiting for you at the opening of the exhibition "The Smell of Warm Bread - Bread in Dacia" on Friday, March 21, at 2 p.m., at the temporary exhibition hall (small hall), at the Banat Village Museum Timișoara.
