The Oradea Criș Land Museum - Museum Complex announces the itinerary of the exhibition "The Camp in the Oradea Citadel", which will be opened at the "Iuliu Maniu" Memorial House in Bădăcin (Sălaj County), on November 14 a.c., on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the fall of communist regimes in Eastern Europe, organized by the "Iuliu Maniu" Memorial House in partnership with the Corneliu Coposu Foundation, the Civic Academy Foundation and the Oradea Criș Land Museum - Museum Complex. It will start at 1:00 p.m. and will include two parts.

The first part of the event will feature a conference by the French historian and writer Thierry Wolton, professor at the École Supérieure de Commerce in Paris, who is particularly concerned with the history of communist regimes, the Cold War and Soviet influence in the West. Several of his publications have also appeared in Romanian, such as KGB in France (1992); Roșu-brun: Răul seculuri (1999); The KGB in Power: The Putin System (2008); A World History of Communism (Volume I 2018, Volume II 2019); Left-Wing Denialism (2019). This conference will also feature speakers Ion-Andrei Gherasim, President of the Corneliu Coposu Foundation, and Ioana Boca, Executive Director of the Civic Academy Foundation.

The second part of the event will feature the opening of the exhibition "The Camp in the Oradea Citadel", in which Dr. Cristina Pușcaș, historian at the Oradea Criș Land Museum - Museum Complex, is invited to speak. The exhibition brings to the fore the history and tragedy of Internment Camp No. 1, which operated in the Oradea Citadel, presenting to the public one of the most shocking stories in the history of the city of Oradea. It also provides information about this camp, where not only ethnic Saxons and Swabians were imprisoned, but also Wehrmacht and SS soldiers, along with those suspected of links to various movements or accused of smuggling and illegal border crossing attempts.

🏃The exhibition can be visited at the "Iuliu Maniu" Memorial House until 26.01.2025.
